The Saskatchewan Roughriders have reported that staff and players have tested positive for COVID-19 following their trip this past weekend to Nova Scotia.
The Riders lost the Touchdown Atlantic matchup against the Toronto Argonauts 30-24, which was watched by over 10,000 fans at Acadia University’s Raymond Field.
The team did not indicate how many positive cases they currently have, but all players and staff are now undergoing mandatory testing as the team traveled together on the same plane.
The team announced in a statement that the practice scheduled for today has been canceled, though their game Saturday against the Argonauts is still expected to take place.
In response to the news, we reached out to Nova Scotia Health to determine what their advice was for people who attended the game. Their media liaison advised that attendees of the game follow the standard advice for potential contact- “Any Nova Scotian who is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 to complete the COVID-19 Self-assessment to find out if they need a COVID-19 test. Public Health recommends that people self-isolate if they have COVID-19 symptoms or have tested positive for COVID-19.”.
