Lunenburg District RCMP have charged a 20-year-old man with stunting after they clocked him going 194 km/h on Highway 103 just outside of Bridgewater.
RCMP say the incident took place during a routine patrol along the highway. Around 8:50 p.m. on January 2, they observed a vehicle heading east at a high rate of speed. Police used their radar to confirm that the vehicle’s speed was in excess of the 100km/h limit, which was confirmed with the reading of 194km/h.
Police have not released the name of the driver but they have confirmed the car used was a 2002 Volkswagon GTI, which was seized following the traffic stop.
The driver, a 20-year-old Lunenburg County man, was charged with Stunting and issued a Summary Offence Ticket. The ticket carries a fine of $2,422.50, along with an immediate 7-day suspension of the man’s driver’s license.
Those charges indicate this is the drivers first stunting penalty as if they had been previously charged with stunting the penalty would be $5,872.50.
