Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Bernadette Jordan is commenting on her statement yesterday on the departments plan to address concerns surrounding moderate livelihood fisheries.
She spoke about how their plan will help to ease tensions.
“I think what this is going to do is provide clarity for people,” said Jordan. “It also is able to authorize a moderate livelihood fishery for first nations.”
Jordan continued on to talk about what else she hopes the plan will accomplish.
“Nobody wants to see a repeat of what happened last year,” said Jordan “We want to make sure that we have an orderly, well regulated and safe season for all harvesters. The plan that we put forward yesterday is a path forward for all of us.”
She says the plan is already being put in place.
