An update is expected Monday on the former HMCS Cormorant.
The old grey ship has developed a serious list and there are growing concerns the ship will sink or leak fuel or oil into the LaHave River.
Members of the Canadian Coast Guard spent part of the weekend examining the ship – docked at the Port of Bridgewater.
Meantime, many residents and followers on our Facebook Page feel it’s an eyesore and just want it gone from the scenic area near Shipyard’s Landing.
However, others say it has historical significance and want it presrved.
The former navy ship was part of the expedition in 1994 to recover the ship’s bell from the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald in Lake Superior.
The fate of the ship is still not known.

Serena Eagles: Get rid of it and sue the owner. Why is it still sitting there in the first place?
Mitchell Tanner: Tell the owner to get it moved by June or the town is selling it for scrap metal and having a Canada day bash off the proceeds!
Jason Bradley Fraser: Shovel it off, break the ice on port side, and counterweight it. It’s s piece of history!! Half of the comments here want to ” get rid of the eye sore” the salvage operation to demo it or move it this time of year would be more costly and damaging than fixing it!! What about other aged historic pieces in town??!! Looks like Bridgewaters Wiles carding mill is soon going to collapse under the snow??!! Who’s going to shovel that off? Or do we just get rid of it??!!
Lisa Hatt: Scrapyard or artificial reef, NOT tied up here! Bridgewater has done such a good job with the new marina and Shipyards Landing, and then have that to look at.
Josh Truelove: Who is the owner? If a tractor trailer was left sitting parked on King Street for say, a few years, what would the town think about that???
Heather Whynot: You would think either town council or prov government would look at this and say lets clean this mess up.
