The financial impact of COVID-19 has proven to be too great for the Salvation Army, and they will not be reopening their thrift store in Liverpool.
The store, which has been closed during the pandemic, was already struggling with financial sustainability and the decision to close permanently was based on that.
The Divisional Secretary for Public Relations and Development Major Jamie Locke, says he understands the closure will pose a challenge for the community and people who rely on the store.
“These have been challenging days as we work through the realities of COVID and similar to many organizations we had to make a difficult decision. We’re just no longer able to sustain and keep the thrift store open in Liverpool,” he said.
Locke says that the Salvation Army church and Community & Family Services will remain open to support the community.
“We are prepared and ready to serve the community and anybody in need with compassion and to the absolute best of our ability.”
