Earlier this week I mentioned that I have family members who are doing the two week quarantine. If they weren’t following the rules, I would have no issue reporting them.
Since that time, the provincial government has announced new measures to try to track people who are coming to the province. The thing is, it’s not something we are really set up for.
Some have suggested tracking cell phones. That could work, but not everyone has a cell phone and they are pretty easy to turn off.
You can call and check on people, but they don’t really have to tell you the truth over the phone.
They can say that people need to hand in a form at the border with contact information, but if you talk to people who have come across the border, not everyone is being stopped. More than one person has told me that, much to their surprise, they were waved right through.
The thing is, we’re kind of operating on the honour system. It just seems like honour is in short supply with some people.
