The kindness of children is moving beyond the walls of a local elementary school.
A group of students at Pentz Elementary have taken it upon themselves to show appreciation to members of their community.
Pentz Elementary’s Kindness Group have worked on a range of projects from making posters, to sharing cookies and muffins with first responders.
Teacher Nicole Roach says the group was formed when students came to her asking how they could welcome the new pre-primary students to Pentz at the beginning of the year.
Since then the group has worked to come up with ideas on how to spread that spirit outside the school.
Grade three student Kayla Anthony explains an event that took place at Pentz Elementary last Friday.
“There RCMP are here and we made them posters and we got them coffee.”
School Safety Resource Officer Constable Ted Bailey accepted the gifts from the students.
When asked why the group did those things, Anthony says, “Because they help us out and we wanted to do something kind for them.”

The group funds their activities through events like a pajama day.
Roach says a lot of great lessons are being learned.
“The funny thing is, today, the RCMP are still here and Constable Bailey is letting them still play with his car. So it ends up being a really kind thing that happens for us as well.”
Anthony says the Kindness group is already planning their next efforts and are looking forward to next year.
