A great way to beat the heat is to head to the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre.
We’re not talking about the pool.
Crews were busy putting the ice back in the rink over the past week.
General Manager Kevin Benjamin explains the process.
“We lay some water over the concrete, we paint it white, we let that set, seal it in, place our logos – which are all fabric, paint the lines. Once everything is placed and we have a sheet of ice, then we start building the ice up.”
Benjamin says the recent high temperatures meant some extra effort was needed to get the sheet down.
“Even on Thursday night when we started the painting process, we were still getting drips from the ceiling. With that high humidity, trying to keep caught up is a challenge.”
Benjamin says the facility is now ready to enjoy and people should check the LCLC website for ice times.
