Things are about to heat up across the Maritimes over the next few days.
A ridge of High Pressure is moving up from the Gulf of Mexico, bringing with it some hot and humid air which will make it’s way into Nova Scotia and the South Shore.
And that means it’s going to be a hot and sticky Canada Day long weekend.
“We’re looking temperatures climbing up into the high twenties through Saturday and into the early part of next week including Canada Day on Monday, where it could reach close to thirty degrees Celsius,” says Linda Libby, Weather Preparedness Meteorologist at Environment and Climate Change Canada.
Libby notes that it will most likely feel even warmer when you factor in the humidity that is expected.
“It likely will feel warmer because we’re going to be bringing some humidity with it so warm, moist conditions leading to it feeling like higher (temperature) values than they actually are,” adds Libby.
Overnight temperatures are expected to hover around the mid to high teens.
