A travel restriction within woods including hiking, biking and off-road vehicles will be in place as of noon on Tuesday.
Natural Resources Minister Lloyd Hines putting the restriction in place to reduce the risk of wildfires across Nova Scotia.
People can still access beaches and provincial parks, but trail systems will be restricted.
Hines says he recognizes this will post an inconvenience to people and tourists.
“However, our top priority has to be safety. Conditions in some regions of the province haven’t been this dry in 15 years.”
The restriction also applies to commercial activity on crown land – permits will be required and are available at local DNR offices.
Hunters and fishers will also require travel permits.
The restriction is expected to be in place for two weeks. You can hear more details in the video below with Lloyd Hines.
