It’s been a local shopping staple of the South Shore for the past 30 years and at the end of the month, it’ll be closing its doors.
Wicker Emporium is closing its Bridgewater Store as it works to deal with financial struggles and a change in business model moving forward.
“Reducing your store count, reducing your overhead expenses are all things that are necessary when you’re finding that you have cash flow problems,” says Raj Kapahi, President of Wicker Emporium.
The Bridgewater store isn’t the only store to be closing its doors; locations in New Minas and Sydney will also close along with locations in Ontario.
Kapahi adds while they have notified the 4 employees that run the Bridgewater location, he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of one day bringing a store back to Bridgewater.
“In the future, we would like to look at coming back to Bridgewater eventually, but I just think for right now this is something that’s in the best interest of our business,” adds Kapahi.
The Bridgewater store is expected to close at the end of May (2018).
