Hebbville’s Jr. Girl’s Basketball team are regional champions.
After double-overtime, the girls finished a narrow 53-52 over the Evangeline Midde School
Co-coach Laura Whitehouse says there were a lot of ups and downs throughout the game.
She says at one time they were down by 15 points, but knew the girls would bounce back.
“Our strategy all year has been to stay positive with the girls, and we talked a lot about believing in themselves and believing in each other,” she says.
“So, just continue to work hard.”
Whitehouse says her and co-coach Amy Hopkins have coached the girls since grade three and four.
She says nine of the 13 girls are graduating from Hebbville Academy this year.
“They always work hard, and they always come to play,” she says.
“And they always are very positive and worked very well as a team together.”
Whitehouse says they had high expectations from the girls from the beginning, and they always delivered.
She says they always represented themselves and the school with 100 per cent effort, and complete team work.
Their matchup against Evangeline Middle School was their final game of the year.
Whitehouse says it was a great way to end a really great season.
