A walk from South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater to Mahone Bay and back has gathered hundreds of dollars for the Health Services Foundation’s journey room.
Gordon Bristol of Bridgewater completed the 51 kilometre trek in nine hours and 10 minutes, days before his 76th birthday.
The walk raised over $500 and donations continue to come in.
Development Officer, Alison Clements, says the money will help provided services like massage therapy for cancer patients.
“Also, we provide wigs and we provide bonnets. There are a bunch of different things that the money will go towards and it will probably go towards some investments in new services and activities for patients, as well.”
Clements says it was Bristol’s idea to complete the walk.
She says the foundation supports community fundraising and welcomes anyone with an idea to bring it to them by contacting her at (902) 543-4604 ext 2543 or email her at alison.clements@nshealth.ca .
