It’s wait and see for local organizations bidding to host Nova Scotia Music Week. Events Lunenburg County and a group in Queens put in bids for 2016 and 2017 but no decision was made over the weekend in Truro. Yarmouth was named next year’s host. Andrew Tanner with Events Lunenburg County feels it could work in their favour. He says, “I think it helps, given that Yarmouth is a smaller community and it’s actually harder to get to than Lunenburg County. I think the success of Truro and the fact that they’re just a short drive from Halifax and the great responses from Truro and their event, I think certainly helps our bid, that’s for sure.” Tanner says they will continue to put bids together to attract events to the area. He says a list of meetings, conferences and other events will be finalized at the end of November. It’s estimated Nova Scotia Music Week could provide $1.5-million in economic spin-off. Yarmouth will host Nova Scotia Music Week from November 5-8, 2015.
