The storm made quite a racket at the Lunenburg Academy Thursday night.
The building is undergoing renovations and the outside is surrounded by scaffolding.
During the storm, the south side of the scaffolding collapsed.
Mayor Rachel Bailey says while the metal is a twisted mess, there was very little damage to the Academy itself.
“Where the scaffolding had been bolted to the building, there’s some damage to the building. It’s noticeable but not terribly extensive from casual looking.”
Bailey says experts have been called to assess the damage.
“We’re waiting now for an expert engineer in scaffolding and the Department of Labour to be on site to give direction to our contractor as to what they do next.”
Bailey says once they hear from those experts they’ll have a better idea how long the restoration will be delayed.
