Politics will be on the minds of Lunenburgers tonight.
Pundit and former Finance Minister, Graham Steele will be in town to discuss his new book, “The Effective Citizen, How to Make Politicians Work for You.”
Between teaching at Kings College and his time spent writing, Steele has spent a good deal of time since leaving politics answering questions around how the public can get through to politicians.
“One of the dangers that we’re facing in government and politics is that if people can’t get something done, if they can’t get anywhere, they get frustrated, cynical, they get disengaged from the process and that’s the worse thing that can happen.”
Steele says this latest book answers questions around how to effectively lobby government to get things done.
“There’s no magic wand you can wave to get your own way on everything. But, citizens with good ideas who approach it in the right way can make the system work to their advantage.”
He will talk more about that Friday night at Lunenburg Bound Books starting at 7:00pm.
Steele will also be at the Mahone Bay Centre on December 1.
