Ryan Garcia admits he wasn’t in the right head space entering his welterweight debut against current WBA champion Rolly Romero last May.

Garcia suffered a unanimous decision defeat that night, the second loss of his career, in what was his first fight back from a year-long suspension stemming from a positive drug test which overturned his April 2024 win over Devin Haney to a no contest.

“At the end of the day, I know what I went through after the Haney situation and it took a toll on me,” Garcia said in January. “They wanted me to try and force a fight and my performance showed.”
