A new program is giving aspiring entrepreneurs on the South Shore free access to mentorship and tools to help them start and grow businesses.
Eight local organizations have partnered with Mashup Lab to bring its Dream Business program back to the region.
The six-week program, delivered entirely online, offers participants peer-to-peer support and unlimited one-on-one coaching from experienced entrepreneurs.
Andrew Button, founder and CEO of Mashup Lab, said demand for the program in the region has been clear.
“Over the past two years, our Dream Business program has been available mostly in Western Canada and the U.S.,” he said. “However, we received more than 80 applications from people right here on the South Shore looking for support. That demonstrates the deep well of untapped entrepreneurial talent sitting on the sidelines in our own community.”
The program has already helped start or grow more than 600 businesses across 500 rural communities in Canada and the U.S.
Organizers say the goal is to give local people the confidence and skills to test their ideas and explore their potential.
The initiative is supported by LIFT Lunenburg County, MIT REAP South Shore, the municipalities of Lunenburg, Chester, and Queens, as well as the towns of Lunenburg and Bridgewater.
Applications are now open at dreambusiness.ca/southshore, and spaces are limited.
