A high-level junior hockey showdown is taking place at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre on Thursday, and it’s all for a good cause.
The one-night-only game features current and former QMJHL players—bringing more than 4,500 combined games of experience to the LCLC.
Organized by local forward Luke Woodworth, the event is raising money for both the South Shore Minor Hockey Association and the Western Riptide Female Hockey Association.
“We thought it would be great for the community and great for the minor hockey associations,” said Woodworth. “It’s probably the most talent that’s ever going to play a game on the South Shore.”
The roster includes players from Halifax, Bridgewater, and across Atlantic Canada—including multiple five-year league veterans and four current Halifax Mooseheads. Local names like Wil Chisholm, Keith Getson, and Walter Flower are also expected to suit up.
Woodworth, who’s become more involved with youth through his hockey camps, says the idea came from wanting to give back.
“We’re all kids at one point as well, so we’re more than thrilled to put on an event to support minor hockey.”
The game starts at 6:30 p.m. at the LCLC in Bridgewater. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids. Raffle prizes will also be available throughout the night, with all proceeds supporting local minor hockey programs.
Organizers are hoping for a big turnout—and a big night for the next generation of players.
