Nova Scotia’s Premier with some strong words on the federal Conservatives.
They lost again to the Liberals in Monday’s federal election.
Tim Houston says the party was very good at pushing people away, and that may have factored in to the results.
“I hope they do some soul searching on what they believe it means to be a Conservative. There are many shades of blue, I think people will see the way I govern, and in my caucus and through our party, that we’ll work with Nova Scotians, and we’ll work with anyone,” the Premier told reporters in Halifax Wednesday.
He says he didn’t get involved in the federal election campaign, but he feels for the candidates who were unsuccessful.
Houston said it’s up for the party to decide if a change in leadership from Pierre Poilievre is needed.
Only one Conservative was elected in Nova Scotia, Chris d’Entremont in Acadie-Annapolis.
Houston adds he’s looking forward to working with Prime Minister Mark Carney on ways to advance Nova Scotia’s interests.
“Excited about initiatives they’ve talked about. The national energy corridor and making Canada an energy superpower. We have so much potential on energy here in Nova Scotia.”
