There’s money for small craft harbours in the federal budget.
Nearly half-a-billion dollars is earmarked for repairs and improvements over the next three years.
Parliamentary secretary of fisheries and Cape Breton/Canso MP Mike Kelloway says many have been hit hard by weather events like Hurricane Fiona.
“This funding will make it possible to continue repair work that’s already underway, including more than 40 harbours that have been announced. It will also help identify new priorities,” said Kelloway.
He also encouraged Atlantic Conservative MPs to vote in favour of the budget, and see this investment through.
Kelloway says it’s a priority.
“As a nation with the longest coastline in the world, Canada must invest in a resilient harbour infrastructure capable of meeting the climate issues of today, and tomorrow.”
