The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has just unveiled its 2026 list of nominees, and it’s a seriously diverse group. Topping the list this year, you’ve got Phil Collins, Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, INXS, Iron Maiden, Luther Vandross, and Shakira.
They’re part of a total of 17 artists under consideration, spanning nearly every corner of popular music, rap, R&B, Britpop, metal, pop, soul… you name it. Other nominees include Melissa Etheridge, Jeff Buckley, Pink, New Edition, Sade, the Wu-Tang Clan, The Black Crowes, Oasis, Joy Division/New Order, and Billy Idol.
A few interesting highlights, ten of this year’s nominees are on the ballot for the first time, including Collins, Hill, Etheridge, Shakira, INXS, New Edition, Vandross, Wu-Tang Clan, Buckley, and Pink. And some familiar faces are back, like Oasis and The Black Crowes, both bands that have had their share of public feuds and reunions.
The 2026 inductees will be announced in April, alongside special committee awards for musical influence, musical excellence, and the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award. Remember, artists have to have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years ago to be eligible, so this list spans decades of music history.
From Grammy-winning albums like Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and Phil Collins’ No Jacket Required, to chart-topping hits from INXS and Mariah Carey, this year’s nominees showcase some of the most influential voices across pop, rock, metal, and hip-hop.
