The Harvest Moon Music Festival returns to downtown Bridgewater September 19 and 20 with two nights of live concerts — but without fireworks this year.
Town officials confirmed that the fireworks display will not take place due to ongoing restrictions and dangerously dry conditions. They further confirmed that even if the burn restrictions are lifted before the event, fireworks will still not take place.
Instead, the funds originally set aside for fireworks will be redirected toward a show during the Christmas on the LaHave celebrations, if conditions later in the year allow.
The process of formally allocating the funds for that purpose has yet to take place, but town staff says it is underway.
Without the fireworks, this year’s festival will concentrate entirely on its music lineup.
Joel Plaskett will headline the Saturday evening show at Pijinuiskaq Park, supported by Christina Martin, Steven Dicks, and Danny Pink. Friday night will feature performances from The Lamplighters and Cut, Split & Delivered.
The event, now in its fourth year, is presented by the Town of Bridgewater.
In addition to live music, it provides an opportunity to explore downtown businesses and enjoy the riverfront setting.
