The streets and stages of Lunenburg are alive with music this week as the Folk Harbour Festival celebrates its 40th anniversary.
Running from August 7 to 10, the long-running event is Nova Scotia’s oldest music festival and one of the longest-standing folk festivals in Canada. This year’s milestone edition features a packed lineup of more than two dozen performers, with shows spread across four indoor and two outdoor venues.
Headliners include legendary Canadian folk artists Connie Kaldor, Dave Gunning, and Lennie Gallant, as well as international acts like Scotland’s Hannah Rarity. Other performers include the Barra MacNeils, Heather Rankin, the Good Lovelies, Kim & Reggie Harris, and many more.
Festival-goers can take in shows at intimate venues within walking distance of one another, including the picturesque Wharf Stage where seagulls and sea breezes often join the chorus.
The event runs through Sunday. Tickets are available for full festival passes, day passes, and individual afternoon or evening shows. Children 12 and under attend free when accompanied by an adult.
