One year after the tragic shooting at an Africville reunion in Halifax and there is still not enough evidence to make an arrest or conviction.
Five young people were injured last July at the event that was celebrating its 41st anniversary.
Multiple people shot at each other, with shots that went into the crowd.
“Over the last year, investigators have worked tirelessly to bring justice to the victims and the Africville community,” says Police Chief Don MacLean in a statement.
“We have completed over 100 judicial authorizations, allowing us to conduct searches, seizures and gather any evidence we can relate to this crime. We have also spoken to over 200 people,” says the statement.
In addition to that, in April the province added the case to the major crime’s rewards program with a reward of up to $150,000 for information, but not a single tip has been received.
Police add, they are encouraged by the resilience of the Africville community who continue to hold the reunion again for the 42nd anniversary and will try to help them celebrate without fear, by patrolling.
