Nova Scotia’s family doctor waitlist has dipped slightly, with nearly 2,000 people coming off the list in June.
As of July 1, there are 89,455 people on the Need a Family Practice Registry, according to the latest update from Nova Scotia Health.
That’s down from 91,423 on June 1.
Officials say 1,968 names were removed over the past month, either because individuals were matched with a provider or found to already have one after routine checks. The registry tracks people across the province who don’t currently have a family doctor or nurse practitioner.
Roughly 8.4 per cent of the province’s population is still waiting for primary care.
Nova Scotia Health is expected to provide the next update in early August.
