Construction of the new long-term care home in Liverpool is progressing on schedule, with residents expected to move in by the fall of 2026.
The 112-bed facility will replace Queens Manor in Liverpool and Hillsview Acres in Greenfield, bringing both publicly and privately operated care under one roof.
Located across from Queens Place Emera Centre, the home will also expand long-term care capacity in the region by more than 20 beds.
A recent construction update puts the project at step nine of eleven in its build sequence. The exterior envelope is complete, and interior framing now reveals bedrooms, dining rooms, and common areas. Single-occupancy rooms will feature private bathrooms and built-in ceiling lifts designed to enhance resident dignity and reduce workplace injuries for staff.
The $100-million project began in late 2023 after several years of planning and consultation with residents, families, staff, and community members. Planners say the goal is a building that feels like a home rather than an institution, with abundant natural light and multi-use spaces that support infection control and daily activities.
While construction continues, organizers are preparing a fall naming campaign so the community can help choose a title that reflects both the legacy of the existing facilities and the fresh start the new home represents.
