Picking up someone from the airport, might have gotten just a little easier, with a new stand-by parking lot at Halifax Stanfield.
According to the airport’s website it is a free waiting area, “conveniently located” next to the Tim Hortons at 311 Bell Blvd.
Here’s how the airport asks you to use the lot:
- Spaces are on a first-come, first-serve basis for up to 45 minutes.
- If you leave your vehicle alone, it could be ticketed and towed.
- The Airport Authority does not assume any liability for vehicles or what is in them.
- Commercial vehicles are not allowed. (except rideshare)
- You are asked to not leave your vehicle idling.
- Please follow all traffic control signage when coming in and out of the lot. When leaving the shared driveway with Tim Hortons, you must turn right onto Bell Blvd.
How it works:
- You wait in the lot until passengers are ready to be picked up.
- Passengers contact you after getting their luggage, they then wait on the curb in the passenger waiting area.
- When the passenger is ready, go pick them up at the curb.
- Waiting at the curb, is not allowed for drivers as it is a loading area.
The airport says, following these rules will reduce congestion at the curb.
