Fewer people voted early in this election than in 2021, according to Elections Nova Scotia.
Figures released from the agency show 160,698 votes were cast ahead of Tuesday’s provincial election, accounting for around one in five registered voters.
That is down from a total of 176,793 early votes cast during the last provincial election in 2021.
These figures include write-in ballots as well as early votes cast at returning offices, community polls and advance polls.
Most of this year’s early ballots were cast at returning offices, accounting for a total of 107,812 votes.
That was followed by advance polls (24,425 votes), community polls (22,315 votes) and write-in ballots (6,146 votes).
The riding of Truro-Bible Hill-Millbrook-Salmon River saw the highest number of early votes with a total of 5,228. The lowest number was in the Cape Breton riding of Victoria-The Lakes with 989 votes.
Election day polls on Tuesday will be open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
