There will be upgrades to community infrastructure in Bridgewater, thanks to provincial grants.
Four new projects have received funding:
– outdoor pool accessibility and safety upgrades – $40,000
– monthly cultural lunch and learn sessions (a partnership between the DesBrisay Museum and the South Shore Multicultural Association) – $10,000
– playground upgrades – $8,000
– accessible exterior washroom doors at museum – more than $7,000
Mayor David Mitchell says they are thrilled.
“These initiatives will directly benefit not only our residents, but also the 30,000-plus people who come to Bridgewater from across the region every single day to work, to shop and to play. We’re especially excited about the forthcoming upgrades at the O’Regan’s Subaru Outdoor Pool, which will include the installation of a new accessible ramp before next swimming season. This funding will be utilized to support additional accessible public infrastructure enhancements throughout Bridgewater.”
The investments are part of the province’s accessibility strategy, Access by Design 2030, outlining how the government will achieve its goal of an accessible province.
