Looks like a bit of a warm stretch coming up for much of the week. We could even see a couple days where the temperature could hit 30 degrees or more.
I am not a person who dislikes the heat. I’ve never really had much of an issue with it. Then again, I’ve never really had much chance to spend much time dealing with it, which is why I don’t mind it.
On the other hand, I do not really care for air conditioning. I think that mostly has to do with the fact that I spend most of my days in air conditioned discomfort. I know there are people who don’t mind the temperature in our office. I, however, hate it. I find it way too cold. As I sit here typing this, my fingers are getting numb from the cold. It’s June and over 20 degrees outside, yet inside I’m wrapped up in a hoodie and still feeling cold.
It’s not something new. It’s been going on pretty much as long as I’ve worked here. But it means that when I do get the chance to get out into the heat, I really enjoy it. That might change, but it’s going to take a long while at a slow roast to pull it off. I like being warm. And it’s hard to make that happen here.
So when we get a few warm days and I can enjoy them, I usually do truly enjoy them. With hot weather on the way, some have asked if I have air conditioning at home to keep things cool. No, I have windows that open, curtains that can be shut against the sun and a fan to point my way if the need arises. That’s about all I need. If it gets too bad, I know where to find a lake to throw myself in.
But I have never been a big fan of air conditioning. I’d rather the heat.
I know many people don’t feel that way. Hopefully, you can stay comfortable over the next few days. And I can’t help but notice the heat will disappear by the weekend, because we have to have our usual weekend cooler temperatures. That seems to be a rule this year.
But I will welcome the warm weather when it comes.
