Today is McHappy Day across Canada. They say it’s the thirtieth annual, but I swear I’ve been taking part for longer than that. But it is a fun event.
It’s pretty simple. Just go to a McDonald’s and a portion of all sales will go to help Ronald McDonald House charities and a local charity. In our area, Bridgewater and Liverpool are helping to support Special Olympics, a very worthy cause.
Now you can support these causes without ever leaving your vehicle. Just by going through the drive through. But the Special Olympics people, particularly in Liverpool, have been doing this for a while, and they have other things going on in the restaurants. Earlier today, and it may still be happening, they had bake sales and raffle tickets being sold. I can’t guarantee there are still bake sale items, but you should check it out. (I have dessert covered for tonight, let’s put it that way.)
And you could also have the chance of meeting some of our local Special Olympians. They had a pretty good run this past February at the national games.
But these are a couple of great causes. Ronald McDonald House, which helps families of sick children, and Special Olympics. If you have the chance, please give them your support.
