There have been a couple days that have at least started me planning. Looking at the garden patch. Thinking about what I might plant there. Maybe even expand the area a bit, because, if nothing else, it gives me less lawn to mow.
But I also know that the last couple of years we have been into June before it was safe to get many plants out. There area a few, more hardy, types that you can start about now. But many will have to wait until the risk of frost has passed.
My wife was talking about flowers and that there are a couple that could be started now. Flowers are her department. I like things I can eat. Although there are a few flowers that fall into the category.
There was that time a few weeks ago when I was staring at the crocuses poking up through the lawn, wondering if I could rip their little stamens off use as saffron. But no. Apparently they have to be special crocuses. I suspect that was to keep me from ripping the flowers apart, but I left them alone anyway.
But while it isn’t maybe quite yet time to get everything in the ground, the time is coming shortly. So it is time to plan. Figure out what goes where and what I might have room to try this year.
So far, my planning has not yielded any early planting type varieties, so the planning stage continues. But I am starting to get eager to get dirt under my fingernails.
I have spots picked out for my tomatoes. And I may have to put in a squash or two, just for the fun of it. I like to see them try to run away. They don’t get far and are easy to track. Seeing as how they have a vine attached.
But plans are being made. It won’t be long before holes are being dug. I have my shovel ready.
