I’ve spent the morning trying to picture it. I’m still struggling, but I’m starting to think it might work.
Are you ready for a Tim Horton’s musical? No, seriously. A Tim Horton’s musical.
Apparently, the people at Timmie’s decided they needed something special to help celebrate their sixtieth anniversary. Our beloved coffee chain turns sixty next month, and they asked their advertising agency to come up with something different to celebrate. The result was a musical about people trapped in a Tim Horton’s during a snowstorm.
My first thought was, what would Tim Horton’s have to do with a musical, but apparently there is a bit of a relationship. Tim Horton’s logo is used on the backdrops for the play The Book Of Mormon, and their coffee is featured in Come From Away. So Tim’s and musical theatre are not total strangers.
So they put together people who know their way around a musical, like the people who were behind Come From Away, others who have experience at the Stratford Festival and on Broadway and have come up with The Last Timbit.
At first, it sounded like a silly idea. But the more I think about it, the more I think it can work. I mean, a couple coffees in the morning certainly makes me far more likely to want to sing and dance. And if I happen to end up in Toronto, I could end up wanting to check it out.
If they throw in a medium black and a Boston cream, I’m there.
