I will admit, I’m not really good at gifts for that special person. Which makes days like tomorrow a bit difficult at times.
The special person in question does make things fairly easy. They don’t want big expensive items. That would likely get me in more trouble than totally ignoring the occasion. But there is a balance here.
Since it happens to be Radiothon Day as well as Valentine’s Day, I even get a bit of a pass. It can be a fairly exhausting day, so not finding the absolutely perfect gift is not really expected. Functioning on fumes is to be somewhat expected. But still, something is expected.
I’ll admit, the hand made cards that Irene Hirtle makes and sells are pretty much perfect. They are pretty nice, so it looks like you’ve put some thought into it. And they are also unique. Or darn close to it. I believe she’s selling them at both South Shore Regional Hospital and the Best Western this year. So that is usually my go to.
But this year, with the forecast calling for snow, I thought maybe something practical for Valentine’s. Like maybe a new snow shovel.
It’s not unusual for us to have some sort of storm on Valentine’s Day. It’s not always snow. Sometimes it’s rain. But I have slogged my way through enough of them so I can make it for the Radiothon that I know it can be a common occurrence. A new snow shovel could be a great gift.
I could even get carried away and get a bouquet of snow shovels. A small one for her car. A larger one for the walkway. A big scoop style one for the driveway. You can probably even get them in red. Heart shaped might be tough to find, though.
Although I should check and make sure there is room in the garage. Especially since, if I buy her a snow shovel, I’ll likely be living there.
I know. It may seem like a perfectly practical gift idea. But it would likely still get me in trouble.
I think I’ll stick with the hand made card. It would seem to be the safer choice.
