The other day, I just happened to notice a meme that said, “Don’t get down on the floor to wrap presents unless you have a plan to get up.” I laughed. Because it was funny. And also true.
I don’t often have to wrap a lot of presents. Like… once a year, maybe. But my memory, although getting a little fuzzy at times, has a very clear picture of me, last year, rolling around the floor, trying to figure out how to stand.
My knees didn’t seem to want to go straight. And my back… there seemed to be a permanent curve and there was no way it was going straight again either. I was concerned I was going to have to stay that way, sort of curled into a semi ball, laying on the floor.
But I had things wrapped! Even if I may never move again.
So my plan is to not spend as much time on the floor. Yes, I’ll still have to get down there, but instead of fighting with the cats and dog for space, wondering where the tape went, and hoping I didn’t just sit on the scissors, I’m using gift bags. At least as much as possible.
I’m not going to cheat. Just put the gifts in a bag. And I’ll even stuff in some tissue paper on top so it looks like nice. Almost like a pro wrapping job.
And it’s not that I’m lazy. I just want to limit my time on the floor and possibly be able to move when I’m finished.
So the switch to gift bags is on. To save my back and knees. At least that’s my excuse.
