I started searching for them last week. I know I have several pairs around somewhere. But I haven’t seen them for a while. With good reason. They really aren’t needed during the warmer months. When the chillier season rolls around, I really do need them. Wool socks.
I will admit, in the past I was never a fan of wool socks. They were too thick and bulky. They made you footwear seem too tight. They were itchy. And way too warm.
But I have gotten over my dislike of wool socks. They aren’t all that itchy. Maybe I buy my footwear a little on the large side. And too warm? No such thing. Wool socks are one of my favourite thing this time of year.
Just the thought of my cozy warm feet inside a pair of wool socks makes me feel a little warmer myself. It’s almost enough to make me want to snuggle up with a sheep for a few months.
Last week, when the temperatures dipped a bit, I went looking for my wool socks. I know they’re around somewhere, although I probably haven’t seen them since April. Maybe even before. But I have become a fan.
I even came across a click bait type of thing online the other day. It promised to tell you the brands of warmest socks, ranked in order. I’m sure many were not only warm, but probably pretty pricy. The word “cashmere” seemed to come up a lot. Even I, who have not always been a fan of wool, knows that means money.
But as I looked through all these types of warm socks, they all seemed to have something in common. They all seemed to be some sort of wool, or at the very least, a wool blend. I’m not sure how scientific this article was, but wool and warm feet seem to go together.
And I like warm feet. So the wool socks are coming out. Maybe my shoes might be a bit too tight, but my feet will be warm.
