Once again this year, time is getting away from me a bit. I haven’t yet put together much of a costume.
It’s not that I spend Halloween out trick or treating any more. I’m usually the one staying home to man the door, reluctantly handing out the treats and hoping we have lots left over. And you don’t really need a costume for that.
But a few years ago, my wife, who does like to dress a bit for handing out treats, left he witch’s hat unattended for a while. So it ended up on my head. The reaction from the kids who came to the door was worth seeing.
Having someone answer the door in any sort of costume seemed like a surprise. Seeing some old guy in a witch’s hat seeming pretty amusing to many of them. It was kind of fun to see their reaction.
So I keep planning to come up with some sort of costume, just to surprise those who show up at the door. But I always seem to run short of time, and never have anything really organized before the big night arrives.
I still have a bit of time left. And there’s always the witch’s hat. I think it’s a good look for me.
