It happens every year. I know it’s coming, but it never seems to get any easier. Digging out clothes as the season changes. Outdoor clothing in particular.
If I ever win big on the lottery, that might be something I splurge on. Just get new jackets and coats every time the season changes. Enough with the packing things away and trying to remember where you put them. And even better… trying to remember what shape they were in when you last wore them.
It can always be a bit of a surprise, climbing into the outdoor closet and trying to find things. Once they are no longer being used on a regular basis, things in my house tend to migrate to the back. And once they are in the back, there’s no telling what might happen.
Since we seem to be on a bit of a warmer trend this week, I though it might be time to get rid of the winter coat and go back to something a bit lighter. So, having a rough idea of where a lighter jacket or two may be hiding, since it’s only been a couple months, I headed to the closet. I did find a jacket or two that would suit the purpose. Also a glove I have been missing since about December. Now if I can just find the one that goes with it, I can put them both where I won’t be able to find either come next November.
And the winter coats, which still probably have a year or two in them could really use to be cleaned before being sent to the black hole for storage. But that probably won’t happen. So at the start of next winter I’ll be pulling them out wondering why I didn’t do that. But I never do.
It didn’t take as long as I thought it might. Although I might have stretched it out a bit. The closet was kind of nice. Cozy even. And certainly quiet.
No wonder things go in there and don’t want to be found. There are days I might like to join them.
