We have quite a collection of small appliances in our kitchen – some get used a lot, others collect dust.
The most useless appliance we ever bought was an ice cream maker. It got used twice.
Once we realized how much planning, work and time you need to make your own ice cream, the thing was relegated to the storage room.
The blender gets used maybe once or twice a week
The break maker was used a lot during the beginning of the pandemic but we use it less and less these days.
But the big surprise was the countertop ice maker.
I had always refused to buy a refrigerator with an ice maker because of the plumbing headaches and the fact that it seems to be the part of the fridge that always breaks.
But the countertop ice maker gets used once or twice a week – I make up enough ice pellets to last the week in an hour or so and then it goes back in the cupboard.
We’ve had it for six months now, and if it keeps working for another year I’ll consider it the most useful small appliance in the kitchen.
What small appliance do you use a lot, and what appliance was a big fail?
