The Municipality of Chester has launched their annual well water level monitoring program, appealing to residents this week to report info on the status of their wells from around the community.
With a relatively dry summer reports are beginning to trickle into the municipal offices of dry wells.
“It hasn’t been too bad so far but we want to start getting the data as soon as possible so we can act accordingly should the time come,” said MOC Communications Officer Jennifer Webber.
Webber says the municipality relies on data reported by residents on well levels to inform some of the municipalities water policies, most notably it determines when the MOC activates its program that provides water to those with dry or low wells.
The threshold required to offer the program has not yet been met, but the MOC will be monitoring the situation for the remainder of the summer.
