Bridgewater native Luke Woodworth will be eagerly following this year’s NHL Draft as he was recently ranked on a list that indicates what round players might be selected in.
On the NHL Central Scouting 21-22 Preliminary Players To Watch List, Woodworth was given a C ranking which indicates a player is likely to be selected in the fourth, fifth or sixth round.
The former South Shore Mustang impressed in his QMJHL debut season with the Drummondville Voltigeurs last year netting 22 points over 37 games.
He also was recently invited to a Hockey Canada identification camp in Calgary. Following that event, Woodworth said he was hopeful that he would be receiving news about getting called up in the near future.
Should Woodworth be selected by an NHL franchise it’s unlikely he will be playing for them right away. Players selected in the later rounds of the NHL are most often sent down to lower leagues so teams can monitor their assets and develop their skills.
The 2022 NHL Draft is currently scheduled to take place on July 7, 2022 in New Jersey.
