It’s one of the only in-person running events in the province this year.
The Nova Scotia Marathon will celebrate its 50th anniversary on July 25th in Barrington.
Recreation Coordinator Misty James says they’re breaking records for registration with about 600 participants.
“We’re running a full and half marathon, a 10k and a 6k. All events are capped at 150 participants. The gathering limit will be 250 when we run the event, but that will include volunteers as well,” said James.
James says there will be staggered start times for each event, and no spectators at the start or finish lines.
She says many hotel rooms in the area are booked solid for race day, and there’s no more room for registration in most events.
“I’m sure Yarmouth, Shelburne, Liverpool and surrounding areas are feeling it. It’s great, and there are lots of things for people to see and do while they’re down here in Barrington.”
Volunteers are needed, and for more information to contact the Barrington Recreation Department.
