The Mahone Bay Alternate School the only off-site alternate program in the SSRCE. A small school of 20 high school students, up to 10 middle level students, and three teachers who cover all the course requirements to graduate. The teachers are Jessica Corkum, Paul Elliott, and Cynthia Trudeau have been working together at the South Shore Regional Centre for Educations off-site alternative programs since 2005. The students are generally referred by their home schools, but many times they find and apply, or have had family members graduate from there. Students attend for a variety of reasons, but generally they just need a smaller learning environment with extra emotional and academic support. They graduate with the same requirements the Public Schools Program expects from any student.
