Every now and then you hear about something that sounds like the perfect job. In some ways, that’s how I ended up doing what I do.
I’ve never had a problem talking. So talking for a living seemed natural in many ways.
Then I saw something the other day that made me wonder if it was time for a career change. A company was looking for candyologists. If that sounds like some sort of made up term, I think you may be right. Basically, they are looking for people to taste candy.
The company is called Candy Funhouse, who are located in Ontario, but this job is remote. You just have to eat candy and tell them what you think of it.
I first heard about it from an online story. I checked the company website, and it seems to be true. They are also looking to fill other positions, like graphic designer and online media person, but the candyologist position is what grabs my attention.
And it’s a pretty good looking position. Thirty dollars an hour to eat candy. However, once you think about it, there could be drawbacks.
I did notice there was no mention of medical coverage. You might not think it’s important, but if you spend a career eating candy for a living, you may need medical coverage.
Not to mention that anyone else you happen to live with is going to be upset that you are constantly ruining your dinner just by working. And it’s your job to eat all that candy. So you probably wouldn’t be able to share. That’s likely to create issues.
These are all things that you could probably find ways to work around. For thirty bucks an hour and a big pile of candy, there is incentive. And just being to call yourself a candyologist seems like it would be worth any number of sacrifices.
