We must be doing something right here in Nova Scotia as we’ve now gone 9 days without a new case of Covid. However we need to stay the course.
My son is from another province that has been hard hit by the virus, except for his region. They had very, very few cases all summer. However he lives in a town that is the regional centre and has the community college for the region as well as several other small universities and trade schools. It appears that returning students over the Labour Day weekend had some huge parties and were packing the bars and coffee houses.
Then in one day earlier this week they had 159 cases reported, including staff from bars and coffeehouses. They went from virtually no cases to an almost out of control community spread in just days!
In a way we are lucky on the South Shore to be one of the few regions without a university, although we do have the Community Colleges.
Do you think we can avoid another wave of the virus here on the South Shore or do you expect things to get worse?
