The court case for Tobias Doucette continued this morning.
A bail hearing for the 31-year-old man accused of attempted murder of a police officer was scheduled for today in Bridgewater Provincial Court.
However his lawyer asked for a 30-day assessment of criminal responsibility to be completed instead.
The assessment will be completed at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Burnside before Doucette’s next appearance.
Doucette has been in custody since July after allegedly stabbing a Bridgewater police officer in the neck and leading police on a multi-day manhunt.
He faces charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, attempted murder, injuring a law enforcement animal, mischief, theft of a motor vehicle, and two counts of possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes.
He is set to return to court on October 15th for a show cause hearing.
