Edible cannabis products should hit shelves before Christmas, but NSLC officials say there will only be a small variety of products available.
With a provincial ban on vaping products looming over the province, NSLC is taking a cautious approach to the products they will carry.
Earlier this month, the provincial government announced it was adding cannabis vape products to its flavoured vaping juice ban coming April 1.
But with edibles, extracts and other non-conventional cannabis products heading to shelves next week, the NSLC has made the move to avoid synthetic flavours all together.
Beverly Ware, communications for NSLC, said outlets will carry vaping products, if made available to them, but not it they are artificially or synthetically flavoured.
“Cannabis does naturally have flavours through its various terpenes,” she said.
“There’s mango, there’s grapefruit, lime, lavender. These are natural flavourings that are in the product. The cannabis vape products we carry will have natural flavours only.”
She said at the moment, it is unknown whether vape products will be available during the expected initial product roll-out on Dec. 23.
