Really, I don’t disagree with your cause. I just don’t have an overflowing wardrobe with all the colours in every possible style that I can simply grab the right thing to fit the right day.
But it’s become a thing. It’s “such and such day” so you have to wear this colour shirt to show your support.
The thing is, I usually don’t clue in to most of these things until it’s time to get dressed in the morning. At that point, it’s more a matter of where my hand happens to fall in the closet. I try to be generally coordinated… you know, not have too many colours that clash, but that’s about the limit of it.
Then, as you check your social media feed you realize you’re not dressed right. You’re supposed to be wearing a colour you probably don’t even own to show support for something.
For example, today I came across the meme that it is “World Kindness Day” and you should dress like Mr. Rogers and wear a cardigan. Specifically, a red cardigan. I don’t even own a cardigan! I have nothing against kindness, I’m all for kindness, but I don’t have a cardigan. Now people will think I hate kindness.
I support your cause. But please, don’t tell me how to dress.
