The Awesome Foundation South Shore are looking to make things a bit wacky this month.
Known best for contributing $1,000 each month to great community projects, the foundation is changing things up for September, and is seeking the wildest, weirdest and most creative ideas the South Shore can come up with.
Trustee Andrew Button says they are hoping to spark some creative thinking and give someone with a wild idea the money to follow through with it.
“We’re really looking to challenge people to get creative and think of something that no one else is going to give you a thousand bucks to go do other than us,” he said.
Button said they’ve funded many innovative community projects over the last five years, but have always enjoyed seeing the odd and more ‘out there’ ideas get submitted.
Unfortunately, when it comes to weird or wacky ideas, they often get bumped out of the competition.
“When up against some of the other community-based projects, the wild, wacky and whimsical ideas tend not to have much of a chance,” said Button.
“So we’ve decided to say, ‘You know what? We are just going to look for those wild and wacky ideas this month and only accept those.'”
Button is hoping the call for wackier ideas this month will stir up some creative projects, and says he can’t wait to see what the South Shore produces.
The Awesome Foundation South Shore will draw for the next $1,000 giveaway on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 7 P.M. at the Petite Riviere Vineyards. Ideas and projects can be submitted at awesomesouthshore.ca by Sept. 15.
